The estate and the wine |
Prized for its schist terroirs, Faugères is a blessed enclave of the Languedoc region. Nestled in a majestic landscape, between the Mediterranean, the Black Mountain and the Pyrenees, the Abbey of Sylva Plana enjoys a unique setting at an altitude of 400 meters. Supported by 800 years of Cistercian heritage, it produces deep and generous wines that have all the freshness and energy of the great wines of the south. |

A convincing expression of the schist terroir, mostly made out of Grenache, the 2020 Red Faugères La Closeraie is a fresh, aromatic and very pure wine. Its notes of rose, peony, thyme and black fruits slide into a framework of great freshness, with ripe and melted tannins; here is a very sapid wine, very pleasant, with fine and generous fruit flavors that we can enjoy now. Rated 92/100 by our Selection Committee.
An irresistible price-pleasure ratio. |
