The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Arnaud Mortet - son of the iconic and late Denis Mortet - set up his own estate with his sister Clémence in 2016, taking over 4 fabulous hectares from his father's estate, including the finest finages in the Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin grands crus. A new beginning for Arnaud and Clémence, who continue to work in parallel at the head of the Denis Mortet estate.
The children have nothing to envy their father's talent, and the same success runs in their genes; so much so that from the moment they are born, these wines set the world on fire, and lovers of great Burgundies are snapping them up.
Wine The 2020 Red Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint Jacques lies at the beginning of the famous Combe de Lavaux, which enjoys an exceptional microclimate. Sun-drenched during the day and cool at night, these grapes reveal ripe, juicy fruit aromas. Dense and velvety on the palate, they are a perfect match for the estate's grands crus.
Vinification Hand harvested. Part of the harvest is vinified as whole grapes, with alcoholic fermentation using only indigenous yeasts. Very moderate pumping over and punching down. Aged 18 months in oak barrels, of which 50% new, 25% one-wine barrels, 25% two-wine barrels.
