The estate and the wine |

Produced by the Anwilka estate in South Africa, Ugaba is its second wine. Anwilka owes its origins to the collaboration of Klein Constantia and two Bordeaux luminaries: Bruno Prats, the former owner of Château Cos d'Estournel, and Hubert de Boüard from Saint-Émilion (Château Angelus). It's worth noting that the Stellenbosch region is the most esteemed wine-producing area in the country. Located in the southern hills, the vineyards benefit from cooling marine breezes. This region boasts a diverse range of soils, with cabernet-sauvignon being predominant. |

The 2020 Ugaba is one of our latest finds among the best value-for-money delights from South Africa, specifically from the Stellenbosch terroir. This blend is built on a solid foundation of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a touch of Malbec and Petit Verdot for seasoning! The aromas are pure, showcasing ripe plum, with hints of vanilla and roasted notes indicative of well-integrated French-style aging. The palate bursts with juicy black fruits, earning praise for its fleshy texture and smooth tannins. This bottle encapsulates a splendid vintage, ready to be enjoyed now and over the next five years or more. |
