The estate and the wine |
Based in the Uco Valley, Bodega Piedra Negra, founded by François Lurton, produces a striking range of meticulously crafted wines, combining deep expertise with cutting-edge techniques.
The vineyard sits over 1,100 metres above sea level, on poor gravel soils at the foot of the Andes, in the heart of a 200-hectare stretch of untouched land. Located in the south of Mendoza, the Uco Valley has become one of Argentina’s most talked-about wine regions—and an essential destination for lovers of high-altitude winemaking. |

Showing perfect ripeness, the 2024 Valle de Uco Malbec Organic Red opens with rich, concentrated aromas of spiced plum compote. The palate is generously textured and fresh, with a well-extracted, fleshy core framed by firm yet silky tannins. A flavourful, youthful wine that benefits from a bit of air—decant before serving, or cellar for 2 to 5 years. Rated 94/100 by the VALAP Selection Committee. |
