The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Juan Antonio Ponce, the rising star of the Spanish wine scene, is challenging the dominance of Rioja with his wines that astonish with their freshness and purity. First noticed by Robert Parker with his early vintages, Ponce operates in the Manchuela region near Valencia, proving with great success that exceptional wines can be crafted in this area.

Committed to organic farming, reviving indigenous grape varieties, and working with old vines, he elevates the Manchuela appellation to new heights. Often highly rated by Parker, Ponce’s wines are still somewhat under the radar, but his reputation is steadily climbing!
Wine Crafted from Albilla grapes planted at high altitudes, the 2022 Manchuela Clos Lojen Blanc bursts with exuberant aromas, featuring orchard fruits like quince and apple. This white wine showcases a distinct mineral identity, striking a perfect balance between richness, roundness, and tension, all while maintaining a refreshing vitality. It’s a deep and complex white, full of energy and dynamism. Savory and well-balanced, it pairs beautifully with fish dishes or a pork tenderloin.
Vinification Hand harvested. Traditional vinification. Aged for 8 months in 600L French oak barrels.
