Juan Antonio Ponce, the new face of the Spanish vineyard scene, is challenging Rioja with his wines, remarkable for their freshness and purity. Recognized by Robert Parker from his very first vintages, Ponce operates in the Manchuela region near Valencia, brilliantly demonstrating that it's possible to produce top-quality wines in this area.
Practicing organic farming, revitalizing native grape varieties, and leveraging old vines, he enhances the Manchuela appellation. Often highly praised in "Parkerized" terms, he remains somewhat under the radar, but his reputation continues to rise! |

Another triumph from Ponce! The 2022 red Manchuela Clos Lojen, made entirely from Bobal, delivers a fresh and appetizing ensemble with good density, featuring notes of violet and cherry. Its very fruity, juicy profile, with fine tannins, is smoothly executed, providing unpretentious pleasure. A lovely organic cuvée to enjoy right now. Rated 93/100 by Parker. |
