Bright red with medium intensity. |

Pure and fresh nose, marked by delicate aromas of crisp red berries. |

The palate is delicate and tight, supported by present but still young tannins, for a Chianti that will gain balance after a few months of rest in the bottle. |

The estate and the wine |
|
|
A fresh new face in Chianti, Fattoria Cigliano di Sopra was taken over in 2018 by Maddelena Fucile and Matteo Vaccari, who now focus on a micro-production of just 8 hectares, mostly planted to Sangiovese.
After training at the University of Florence and gaining experience in Oregon at Domaine de la Côte with Raj Parr and Sashi Moorman, the pair now produce a focused range built around their Chianti and a handful of single-vineyard bottlings. All the wines are aged in large Stockinger casks, resulting in elegant, expressive wines that highlight both fruit character and a strong sense of place. |

Exceptionally pure, the 2023 Chianti Classico Red opens with fresh notes of cherry and red berries, lifted by a subtle touch of spice. The palate is sleek and focused, with firm yet ripe tannins that give it structure without heaviness. A beautifully poised wine, full of promise, that will continue to refine over the coming months. Rated 93/100 by our Selection Committee. |
