The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Quinta des Carvalhas is a historic Port house, appreciated by wine lovers and enthusiasts, but little known in France. It is time to introduce you to this spectacular vineyard address whose history is intertwined with the birth of Port, through its magnificent 2018 vintage.
Wine Rated 95/100 Parker, the 2018 Red Vintage Port is one of the 5 greatest ports of the vintage according to the American critic. So much praise for this success at such a price level... You will enjoy its notes of juicy black cherry and sweet spices which are profiled in a dense, powerful, concentrated palate, with perfectly integrated alcohol and a nice freshness. It is a port to be served chilled at around 10° with a pan-fried foie gras or a red fruit and chocolate dessert. Its potential is immense, 30 years at least... Rated 17/20 by the Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested, traditional crushing in lagares (granite vats). Fermentation interrupted by the addition of wine brandy. Aged for 2 years in medium-sized oak vats called toneis.
