Undisputedly one of our Selection Committee’s favorites, rated 2 stars in the famous French RVF Green Guide, Château de Villeneuve is one of the Loire Valley’s best estates. On his 25 ha vineyard, Jean-Pierre Chevallier works by instinct, chiseling out superb wines that translate to perfection all the wonderful attributes of this chalky coast.
On the warm lands of the Loire Valley, he brings the Saumur-Champigny appellation centerstage, crafting crisp and fresh wines, full of charm, that honor the smoothness of the Cabernet Franc grape variety without ever denying their origin.
Year after year, Château de Villeneuve renews its magic and asserts itself with regularity as one of the great stylists of the Saumur landscape. The perfect example lies in this impeccable 2021 vintage, vinified without added sulfur. |

The 2022 Saumur-Champigny Clos de la Bienboire, with its pure, easy-going aromas of fruit, is a primary, gourmet expression of Cabernet. Its juicy, crisp, and fresh, as its invigorating and not too extracted character are all reasons to pair it with a fine pâté en croûte or a green pepper country-style pâté. A terribly seductive wine to be drunk young. |

Hand harvested in small boxes, exclusively from a 1.5 hectare vineyard, pre-fermentation cold maceration in vats for 4 days and vatting for 18 days, malolactic fermentation. No SO2 added.
