The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Franck Lihour, a master winemaker in Jurançon, has truly distinguished Domaine Castéra with his exemplary approach. Drawing inspiration from the finest Champagne houses, he employs meticulous pressing techniques, uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation with minimal sulfur, and opts for aging in wooden barrels and sandstone eggs. This thoughtful process results in Jurançon wines of exceptional expression and luminous tension.

With a background that includes stints at the iconic Clos Joliette and Burgundy and Château Suduiraut in Sauternes, Lihour has amassed a wealth of expertise from the wine world's finest. Esteemed by Olivier Poussier as one of the most gifted winemakers of his generation, he has propelled Castéra to the forefront of the most exciting wineries to watch.
Wine A blend of Mansengs and Petit Courbu, the 2022 white Jurançon Sec Tauzy reveals beautiful minerality with restrained aging. This is a very young wine that could benefit from decanting to better unveil its delicate fresh pineapple aromas. Exceptionally pure, it unfolds a delicate, extended, and elegant structure, embodying the lively character of Jurançon. A model of its appellation, expertly managed, it's best enjoyed over 6 years and beyond. Rated 93/100 by the Committee.
Vinification Manual harvesting in the last two weeks of October. Slow pressing of whole clusters, fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aged on fine lees for 10 months in large wooden vats followed by 2 months in stainless steel tanks.
Dry Jurançon.
