The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A hardworking, inspired, and demanding individual, Hervé Bizeul has made Clos des Fées one of the most beautiful successes of the Roussillon, a pinnacle of French viticulture. His strong character and uncompromising standards are reflected in his wines, which draw an extraordinary expression from the terroirs of Calce.

Under his leadership, the concept of a great wine from the south has fully come into its own, and this estate is now part of the ultra-exclusive circle of French icons.
Wine This year again, the 2023 red Côtes du Roussillon Les Sorcières maintains its delicious and vibrant trajectory. The limestone foundation, elevation, and significant proportion of Syrah (alongside Grenache and Carignan) thrust the wine forward with fruity momentum. A nose of licorice, smoky notes, and bacon envelops an intense and very ripe black fruit, without any overt oaky characteristics; the palate is a concentrated, dense, and spicy coulis, with flavors of tapenade and bay leaf. The ensemble is already so enticing, the tannins so velvety, that it's entirely conceivable to enjoy it right now. Best paired with grilled meat. A favorite of the Committee, rated 93/100.
Vinification Harvested by hand. Pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature. Aged in stainless steel tanks on fine lees for 8 months.
