The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A trusted name of the northern Rhône Valley, Domaine Roland Grangier is one of our favorite addresses. Roland and Céline Grangier farm 8 hectares mainly in Saint-Joseph and Condrieu, quietly producing wines full of flesh and finesse that delight wine lovers — always at fair prices.
Wine From the best hillsides of Chavanay and old vines, the 2023 Red Saint-Joseph Côte Granits shows Syrah at its finest, with aromas of smoky bacon, black fruit and syrupy cherry, lifted by the subtle smoky touch of barrel aging. The palate is juicy and framed by fine-grained tannins, delivering a wine that is harmonious, fresh and precise, yet with plenty of backbone. A bottle to enjoy now through 2032. A favorite of the Selection Committee, rated 94 out of 100.
Vinification Hand harvested. Total destemming, fermentation for 3 weeks in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, regular pumping over. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels. Light filtration and bottling.
