The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A leader of Montlouis-sur-Loire and a role model for an entire generation, Jacky Blot, who sadly passed away last May, made his Domaine de la Taille aux Loups one of the finest vineyards in France. Since 1990, this triumphant figure of the Loire Valley has been forging a new path and raising the quality of his wines to new heights.

2 stars in the RVF Guide, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, the entire Maison vineyard - Vouvray, Bourgueil, Montlouis - is now pursuing its quest for perfection under the aegis of talented winemaker Jean-Philippe Blot.

In addition to the original Montlouis estate, the Blot family has taken on the vineyards of Vouvray and Bourgueil, with the Domaine de la Butte; a vineyard developed on one of the appellation's finest clay-limestone slopes, whose south-facing plots are selected according to the Burgundian model, shaping wines of unrivalled sensuality, evolving perfectly over time.
Wine A Cabernet Franc with southern exposure, the 2020 red Bourgueil Mi-Pente displays straightforward, precise power. Its airs of Barolo Nebbiolo give it great character and a chalky feel structures the wine and brings plenty of freshness to its rich length. A civilized, energetic future lies ahead.
Vinification Hand-harvested, totally destemmed, fermented in wooden vats, vatting for 4 to 5 weeks, malolactic fermentation in wooden vats.
Aged for 16 to 18 months in wooden vats, with one wine for 1/3 of the harvest, two wines for the second third and three wines for the final third.
