The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A legendary appellation in the Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin is renowned for wines that combine remarkable concentration with impeccable finesse. It’s this delicate balance of purity and harmony that Thierry Mortet—brother of the late, iconic Denis Mortet—captures so brilliantly in each of his cuvées.

Working with an exceptional and highly regarded vineyard heritage, cultivated organically, he crafts wines of rare precision. Each vintage yields polished, well-balanced wines of great purity, free from excess and rich in expression.
Wine Striking a perfect balance between depth and finesse, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Red delivers a wine of remarkable intensity, with beautifully ripe fruit and expertly judged oak aging that adds subtle complexity without overshadowing the wine. Its generous, fleshy texture is carried by silky, well-integrated tannins, while a vibrant freshness runs through the palate, hinting at excellent aging potential. This is one of the estate’s finest village-level expressions to date—elegant, structured, and full of charm. Rated 94/100 and a favorite of our Selection Committee.
