The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine This is a new address that is sure to make a sensation! Driven by the enthusiasm and rigor of three talented winemakers and friends—Stéphane Bodet, Alice Chidaine, and Jean-Baptiste Bonnigal—Le Clos de la Frelonnerie is a unique estate located in Montlouis-sur-Loire.

This small enclosed vineyard, a narrow plot of Chenin surrounded by walls, is planted with old vines, some of which are nearly 120 years old. Set in a magical soil of yellow tuffeau and clay sands, it is lovingly cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods.
Wine Cherished like a grand cru, with fermentations in demi-muids and two years of aging in barrels, the 2021 white Montlouis-sur-Loire Monopole offers an exquisite resonance. This Chenin boasts great purity and freshness, adorned with notes of white fruits, a touch of rootiness, and beautiful minerality. Its invigorating structure, refined and elegantly enveloped by the wood without excess, is of high class. A gastronomic wine, perfect for the next decade, to pair with noble fish like turbot or John Dory with beurre blanc, or a trout gravlax. Rated 93/100 by the Selection Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested. Direct pressing. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 620-liter demi-muids. Aged 24 months, without racking, on fine lees in the same containers. Bottled on August 4, 2023. Residual sugars: 1.2 g/l.
