The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine The only producer in Rousillon described as "exceptional" by the "Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2011", Domaine Gauby represents a true culmination of wines from this region. A pioneer and real source of inspiration to a whole new generation of winemakers, the Domaine asserts a style that is the result of minimal intervention in the vineyards as well as in the cellar. Often imitated but never equalled, " le Grand Cru du Roussillon" is a reference wine.
Wine The Calcinaires Red 2009 is a wine of irresistable charm. On the nose, it delivers a powerful score of black fruit, olive and thyme aromas. On the palate, the fruit is ripe, soft and precise, without losing its refreshing nature. With feet in the soil and the head turned towards the ideal, with this wine the winemaker has given us one of the most lovely interpretations of Roussillon grape varieties ever. In a singular and prophetic style, this wine is definitely one that should not be missed.
Vinification Hand harvested, traditional vinification, 100% de-stalking, 2 to 4 weeks maceration. Aging for a period of 10 months, of which 20% in barrels and 80% in vat. Bottled without fining or filtration. Yields: 25 hl/ha.
