The estate and the wine |
Perched on the limestone slopes of Vergisson, the Gilles Morat estate produces wines with real identity, each one capturing the spirit of this prized corner of the Mâconnais. Crafted with care under certified organic practices, these character-driven wines have earned a well-deserved one-star rating in the French wine guide RVF.
Gilles Morat and his son Pierre bring out the full potential and diversity of their limestone-rich terroirs through a precise, hands-on approach to winemaking. |

Subtly oaked, the 2023 White Pouilly-Fuissé Terres du Menhir captures the essence of Vergisson’s limestone terroir with striking clarity. It opens with a fresh, floral nose—clean and lifted, shaped by the chalky soils. The palate is taut and precise, showing real finesse. A gentle salinity runs through the wine, giving it energy and length. The oak is barely noticeable, used just enough to support the texture without getting in the way. A focused, elegant wine that speaks clearly of its place. |
