The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A jewel of the southern Rhône Valley and awarded 2 stars in the RVF Guide, Domaine de la Janasse is a highly sought-after estate renowned for its exceptional consistency. The Sabon family tends it with passion, crafting remarkable wines across both Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône.

Here, excellence is the standard. Every cuvée reflects meticulous care in the vineyard and cellar, supported by an exceptional patchwork of parcels and a remarkable heritage of vines.

With perfectly achieved ripeness, the wines offer power, finesse, and impressive freshness. They are a favorite of Olivier Poussier, Best Sommelier in the World and a member of our Tasting Committee!
Wine The 2020 Red Châteauneuf-du-Pape Saint-Antonin, crafted entirely from Grenache, comes from 60-year-old vines planted in the sandy soils of La Font-du-Loup and La Crau—two of the appellation’s most prestigious terroirs. These exceptional sites yield wines that are silky and fresh, with delicate aromas of raspberry, rose, and a hint of pepper. Medium-bodied with a fine mineral streak, a seamless texture, and ripe fruit notes, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape stands as a reliable benchmark for the appellation, especially in such a rich and generous vintage. Domaine Saint-Antonin, owned by Isabelle Sabon—the sister of the owner of Domaine de la Janasse—may be lesser-known, but it’s well worth your attention.
Vinification Hand harvested, sorted in the vineyard and cellar. Plots located in La Fond du Loup and La Crau Est, spread over 2 ha of sandy soil, vines averaging 60 years old. 80% de-stemming, 28-day maceration. Aged 12 months in tuns.
