The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A historic address in Ampuis, Domaine Lafoy is a key player in the northern Rhône region. The arrival of Gaëtan Lafoy has taken the quality up a notch in a continuous quest for freshness and definition. He produces impeccable cuvées in a natural and very digestible style, featuring beautiful oak aging. The RVF Guide lists it among the most promising domains of the moment, one of those confidential addresses that are absolutely worth discovering.
Wine The 2018 Côte Rôtie Côte Blonde Red originates from a small, unique plot planted in 1934, and it's shaping up to be an outstanding wine. This ancient parcel, now among the oldest in the estate, was planted by German prisoners at the end of World War II. It yields a wine that rivals a Premier Cru, aged two years in barrels. This process imparts a mature and impressively balanced character, blending deep, fresh flavors with a tightly woven, elegant structure. Its smooth tannins and notes of black fruits and spices make it a remarkable discovery and a great choice for connoisseurs.
Vinification Hand-harvested, aged in one or two-wine barrels for 24 months.
