The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Twenty kilometers from Cape Town, Klein Constantia has been producing the famous Vin de Constance since 1685, a nectar prized by all the courts of Europe and the world's great and good, made from Muscat de Frontignan; Napoleon Bonaparte, it is said, drank it on St. Helena... More than 300 years of history that equals the most prestigious Sauternes or sweet wines from the Loire and Alsace!
Wine A blend of Cabernet, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, the 2020 red Constantia Valley Estate reveals lovely aromas of blackcurrant, bell pepper, and pepperoni in a framework of great charm, characterized by freshness and voluptuousness. It is a very well-crafted, controlled wine, perfect for pairing with dishes like piperade or Basque chicken. Rated 90/100 by the Committee.
Vinification Harvested by hand. Malolactic fermentation in 40% new French oak barrels. Aged for 15 months before blending and bottling.
