The tasting
Color Lively, deep red colour with purple highlights
Nose Complex and vinous on the nose, with lightly toasted aromas with notes of liquorice and crushed red berries.
Palate Powerful and structured on the palate, chewy, spicy notes, long finish. With its delicious fruit, it drinks admirably well when still very young.

Temperature Enjoy between 15 and 18°C. Decant 1 hours before drinking.

The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A family property, this vineyard on the terraces of the Lot Valley respects ancient tradition. Born from a very great estate in Gallo-Roman times, it suffered the ravages of the wars of the Middle Ages and managed to survive up until the Phylloxera attack in 1878. Some Auxerrois vines were nevertheless preserved by Edouard Serougne who, in 1920, fell in love with the property's owner and this grape variety. The house on the Lamartine property was built on the site of an ancient oak tree and legend has it that a beautiful local girl, Martine, held her romantic trysts under this tree - hence the property's name. The wines reflect the place and history perfectly.
Wine Chateau Lamartine's 2008 "Cuvée Particulière" is well rounded, fresh and racy wine. Alain Gayraud, master winemaker, is the architect of this wine with its superlative balance. It holds up grandiosely on the palate and the fruit is really pleasant. Robust but not big bodied, its finesse of style can be particularly appreciated.
Vinification Traditional vinification, in stainless steel vats with temperatures controlled between 30 and 32°C at the end of fermentation. Aging in concrete tanks until the following spring. 35% of the wine then spends a year in cask. Bottled in the following spring, 18 months after the harvest.
