The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine One of our favorite addresses of the Cahors region, who embodies to perfection the revival of this appellation, Château Lamartine offers a perfect expression of the Malbec grape variety, far from the full-bodied style preferred by winemakers in the past. Their wines of extreme finesse and delicacy illustrate this new vision of Cahors, a new style for a new era led by the talented new generation, Lise and Benjamin Gayraud.
Wine Beautifully ripe, the 2019 Red Cahors Cuvée Particulière reveals notes of intense black fruits, spices, and candied fruits. The dense and tight palate has smooth tannins and a lot of fullness and power with a long and persistent finish with menthol and gingerbread touches. This Cahors is made from 90% Malbec grapes from the estate's oldest vines. It should be kept for another year and served with oxtail or grilled pork chops. Decant for an hour or serve in large glasses. Rated 92/100 by the Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested from 40 to 60 years old vines. Traditional vinification and punching of the cap for 30 days in stainless steel vats with temperature control at 30°C. Aging for 12 to 14 months, 50% in oak barrels and 50% in barrels of 1 to 3 years.
