The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine From the grand dining rooms of London to the vineyards of Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière in the heart of the Larzac, Gavin Crisfield has quickly joined the ranks of the most acclaimed estates in this coveted region.

Deeply passionate about the Languedoc’s terroirs, this former sommelier from Belfast has brought his vision to life with authenticity and commitment—a dedication that earned him one star in La Revue du Vin de France, one of France’s most respected wine publications.

Farming 4.5 hectares organically across a mosaic of schist, basalt, sandstone, and limestone soils, Gavin Crisfield crafts each cuvée with meticulous care. His approach is instinctive and uncompromising, resulting in wines that deliver wonderfully precise textures and beautifully vibrant fruit flavours.
Wine Tasted just before bottling, the 2022 Red Terrasses du Larzac La Traversée showcases pure, concentrated depth and a rich, fleshy texture—offering a glimpse of its greatness to come. The nose is brimming with aromas of wild blackberry, black licorice, and black olive. On the palate, it delivers a generous and powerful structure, balanced by a fresh, vibrant energy and beautifully velvety tannins. This is an outstanding cuvée with excellent aging potential, best enjoyed over the next 6 to 8 years. Rated 95/100 by the Selection Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested in crates. Each grape variety is vinified independently in concrete vats. Maturation of the Syrah in truncated wooden vats, and the Carignan and Grenache in oval tuns for 18 months.
