The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Located near Maury, in the heart of the Agly Valley, protected to the north by the Corbières hills and to the south by the Pyrenees, Mas Amiel comprises 170 hectares of vines. Its history began in 1816 when a Bishop gambled some land he owned in a card game and lost it to Raymond Etienne Amiel. Nearly two centuries later, the reins of the estate were taken up by a new owner, Olivier Decelle.
Wine The 6 year old Maury expresses all the Grenache's qualities. The tannin is elegant and polished, the first developed aromas are sumptuous. Its very long finish brings you all the sun of the South of France. Usually enjoyed as an aperitif or with dessert, a Maury with foie gras is a wonderful experience.
Vinification Hand harvested, traditional vinification, Aging for one year in glass carboys, followed by 5 years in oak vats.
