The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Château Montus is extraordinary. In thirty years, Alain Brumont has achieved remarkable feats in Madiran. The vinifications are of extraordinary precision, and nothing overshadows the fruit. The textures are soft and profound, and the tannins display rare refinement. While Montus is already at an exceptional level, the Prestige cuvée represents the ultimate realization of the Brumont signature. This cuvée disrupts established standards and hierarchies; one could place it among the first growths of Bordeaux with the fruitiness of a great Italian cru...
Wine The 1999 Montus Prestige can easily compete with the finest Bordeaux. Blind tastings consistently confirm that the Prestige cuvées consistently outshine some of the most prestigious names on the planet. Today, the 1999 Montus Prestige is entering the early stages of its most beautiful years of evolution. The spectacular dimension of its personality is fully revealed. The nose is marked by hints of Morello cherry and cigar box. The palate is very generous, and the wonderfully velvety texture enchants us with black fruits and spices. Deep, long, smooth, and intense, this cuvée perhaps conveys the message that in Madiran, one can reach the pinnacle of the wine world.
Vinification Harvested by hand, macerated for 3 to 6 weeks, aged in new oak barrels for 14 to 16 months.
