The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Michel Chapoutier is the undisputed star of the Rhône Valley, with a phenomenal catalog of wines to choose from. An outstanding ambassador and precursor of biodynamic viticulture, driven by a passion for great wines, this instinctive winemaker is world-renowned. His wines are unrivalled, delivering the finest expressions of their respective terroirs.
Wine A plot-based wine produced in small quantities, the 2019 red Côte Rôtie Neve is a pure Syrah from a particular terroir, a hillside of schist and mica-schist in the commune of Ampuis, facing south-southeast. Combining structure and finesse with a rare intensity, it relays beautiful aromas of black fruits, graphite, and pepper, in a chiseled, precise, highly pure body.
Vinification Hand-harvested, 100% de-stemmed, vinified in raw concrete vats, alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, vatting for 4 to 5 weeks with regular pumping-over at the start of maceration, followed by a few punchings of the cap, maceration with work on the lees for the last 3 weeks, aged in 228-liter Burgundy barrels (25% new) for 14 to 18 months, depending on the vintage.

Certified organic and biodynamic wine.
