The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine With insatiable curiosity and a visionary style of winemaking, Michel Chapoutier explores the world’s vineyards to unearth and craft new gems out of undiscovered terroirs.

In Australia, in the state of Victoria, he has teamed up with the talented Rick Kinzbrunner of Giaconda Vineyard and his son Nathan, to make one of the finest red wines in the region. Located in Beechworth, in the foothills of the Alps in northeast Victoria, the granite terroirs provide a formidable breeding ground for the Syrah grape variety. The 4 hectares of Giaconda have been preserving this unique area for more than forty years and it is quite natural that Michel Chapoutier wanted to explore this Syrah with the help of the Kinzbrunner family. The collaboration was bound to be a success...
Wine Aged "à la française" in barrels for 18 months, the 2012 Red Victoria Pyrenees Ergo Sum has an incredible kinship with our Rhone syrah. Black fruits, pepper, thyme and spices mingle with a powerful palate, rich in tannins, with a magnificent length. Everything is mastered to perfection and remains harmonious and incredibly smooth. One can start drinking this wine with a nice stewed meat or keep it for a few more years, it has the potential! Rated 96+/100 by Parker.
Vinification Hand harvested and totally de-stemmed. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (30% new).
