The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Michel Chapoutier, a prominent figure in the Rhône Valley, has an impressive collection of crus to his name. His expertise in winemaking and deep knowledge of vineyards set him apart in uncovering the finest terroirs.

Domaine Schieferkopf, his new gem, showcases the untapped potential of both Alsatian and German soils. Since taking it under his wing in 2015, he has skillfully cultivated it using organic practices. Nestled on Alsace's unique blue schist vein, this Riesling thrives under abundant sunshine, benefiting from a diverse and complex soil composition.
Wine The 2012 white Alsace Riesling Lieu-Dit Buehl, scoring 94/100 and a personal favorite of Olivier Poussier, expertly combines tension, firmness, and persistence with grace and precision. This powerful, sleekly contoured white, aged ten years, reveals masterful complexity with notes of citrus, ripe, and exotic fruits. It's a quintessential wine for fine dining, characterized by its delightful bitter undertones and a saline finish, ideally paired with sandre in beurre blanc or shellfish.
Vinification Hand-harvested in 20 kg crates. Long pressing and static settling. Vinification with indigenous yeasts. Aged 15 months in foudres.
