Mild, the presence of natural residual sugar (120 g/l) finally offsets its alcohol content. A highly refined liqueur, it can be drunk as a chilled aperitif (8-10°C) or as a digestive. |

The estate and the wine |

It's the most respected and consistent name in the Jura, and has been awarded 3 stars in the RVF Guide Vert for many years. Domaine Macle cultivates unparalleled consistency, delivering vintage after vintage of sumptuously accurate wines, now certified organic. Laurent Macle and his sister Christelle carry on their father's work with devotion, cultivating rarity and patience. Their 10 hectares of Château-Chalon serve the cause of careful oxidation, without ever forcing the issue, and their wines have become mythical and legendary, very difficult to find and often very expensive. There's also a small production of traditional Macvin, a liqueur wine made from a blend of must and Jura marc brandy, which is also one of the rarest wines to be discovered at Domaine Macle. Here it is! It's a delight! |

Do you know Macvin du Jura? A little history: this famous liqueur wine from the Jura was first produced by the Benedictine Abbesses of Château-Chalon. Many years later, it was officially recognized in our PDO appellations in 1991. It is made from a blend of unfermented must and one-third eau de vie de marc at 50% alcohol. Highly fragrant, recalling fine scents of star anise, stone fruit and flavors of marc brandy and cherries in brandy, it offers the sweetness of natural residual sugar to offset the alcohol. A highly refined liqueur, it can be drunk as a chilled aperitif (8-10°C) or as a digestive. |
