The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine One of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s best estates, with vines located on some of the appellation’s most beautiful terroirs, including the magnificent Crau plateau, Château de Montfaucon offers one of the most interesting and accomplished expressions of this mythical terroir.

It also excels on the contiguous terroir of Lirac, a lessa famous appellation that is just as appreciated by wine lovers everywhere, who know its potential well. The wines are built with the same care and organic approach as their Châteauneuf ones, with a fresh and elegant profile and a beautiful style.
Wine Made from a plot selection of old vines, some of them 95 years old, the 2018 Red Lirac Baron Louis delivers a fine score of its terroir. Rich and intense, carried by abundant, perfectly ripe aromas of fruit, it possesses a lot of freshness and elegance. Notes of black berries, licorice, smoke are thus linked in all quietude in a dark, nuanced and complex palate, with silky and accomplished tannins. All the panoply of the south of France, its perfumes and its generosity, presented without any excess.
Vinification Hand harvested from the best parcels of old vines, some of which are 95 years old. Vatting for 14 to 18 days with co-fermentation of several grape varieties. Aging of 80% in barrels of 1 to 10 wines for 12 months, followed by 16 months in concrete tanks before bottling at the estate. Aging in bottles for at least 12 months in the cellar before marketing.
