The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine François Mitjavile, star winemaker of the Bordeaux region, is as fascinating as the fabulous clay soil that bears his Château Tertre Roteboeuf, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion. A free and inspired figure, a philosopher of agricultural thought, he makes wines like no other, from this "extravagant terroir, the most exotic on the south coast" of Saint-Emilion.

Next to the Grand Cru Classé, on 10 hectares of clay and limestone on the border of Saint-Emilion, François and Louis Mitjavile produce a Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux at Domaine de l'Aurage. With the same philosophy and care as Tertre Roteboeuf, this wine cultivates independence of style and devastating charm.
Wine Rich, dense and deep, the 2019 Red Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux Le Versant benefits fully from a late terroir where the grapes ripen slowly, which are the ideal conditions for the development of the Merlot grape variety. This results in a full-bodied wine, vinous and powerful in aroma, with notes of red and black fruits in particular. Made for aging, it remains fresh and balanced. We already appreciate it for its fullness and its plenitude!
Vinification Mechanical harvesting. Traditional vinification in stainless steel tanks. Matured in wood for 18 months.
