The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine In San Gimignano, one of the most picturesque villages in Tuscany, the octogenarian Elisabetta Fagiuoli defies time and continues to showcase her talent at her Montenidoli estate. She has been crafting wines of "truth" since 1965, when she took over several abandoned plots and laid the foundations for her vineyard.

Her adoration for Burgundy is clearly reflected in her cuvées, and the connection becomes apparent through the finesse and sculptural complexity of each of her wines. Through careful observation, patience, and time, she has unveiled the great terroirs of Tuscany and captured the hearts of wine lovers with the emotions her wines evoke.
Wine A favorite of the Selection Committee and rated 93/100, the 2020 white Vernaccia Di San Gimignano Carato is a complex and captivating white wine, characterized by aromas of acacia flower and fine honey. The use of wood enhances its root-like and mineral aspects, adding depth to the wine. Combining ripe fruit, carefully managed oxidation, and meticulous aging, this white unfolds a rich, substantial palate, offering structure and depth. It stands as one of the finest expressions of this Tuscan terroir, perfect to pair with white truffle risotto or seared scallops, or to complement the bitterness of a pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. It promises excellent aging potential for at least 10 years.
Vinification Hand harvested. Fermentation and maturation of 12 months in old barrels, then maturation of 24 months in bottles.
