The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine In the charming village of San Gimignano in Tuscany, the spirited octogenarian Elisabetta Fagiuoli continues to work wonders at her Montenidoli estate. She began in 1965, breathing life into abandoned plots and laying the foundations of her vineyards. Her wines, known for their authenticity, are deeply influenced by her love for Burgundy, evident in the finesse and intricate complexity of each bottle. Through her dedication, patience, and skill, Elisabetta has highlighted the rich terroirs of Tuscany, winning over wine lovers with the emotional depth of her creations.
Wine The 2021 white Vernaccia Di San Gimignano Tradizionale steers clear of technical complexity, instead weaving subtle and intricate aromas. With a nose of gentian, linden, and honey, it captures a root-like essence while maintaining a carefully controlled slight oxidation. The palate continues this refined theme with a vibrant, concentrated start, followed by a superb mineral structure, great freshness, and delicate bitterness. This wine is all about emotion, perfect for pairing with cooked fish, sheep's tomme cheese, or a white truffle risotto. It promises a good aging potential of at least 7-8 years. A favorite of the Committee, it's rated 93/100.
Vinification Harvested by hand. Maceration with skins. Aged in glass-covered concrete vats.
