The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine On top of the world. Over two decades ago, the visionary Gérard Perse took the reins of Château Pavie, and since then, this estate has risen to the very pinnacle of the appellation. Every possible lever for quality has been pushed to its limit, resulting in a wine of monumental stature—one that leaves no one indifferent.

Perched above the Saint-Émilion vineyards, Château Pavie is as commanding in architecture as it is in style. Its awe-inspiring cellars and bold, expressive wines are a true reflection of its status as Premier Grand Cru Classé A, a title it earned in 2012. Gérard Perse, the estate’s passionate and charismatic owner, leads with total commitment. Vintage after vintage, the style continues to evolve—more precise, more dynamic—ensuring Pavie’s ability to age with grace and confidence.
Wine Always subtle, with a deep sense of sensuality, the 2017 Château Pavie Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Red reaches a rare level of freshness and purity in this vintage. Its brilliance, depth, and finesse stand in contrast to the tighter, more forceful style of earlier years. The barrel aging—used here to gently round out the wine and add layers of complexity—feels more restrained, and perfectly judged. In this vintage, it remains one of the must-haves of the appellation, if not of all Bordeaux. Rated 99/100 by Parker.
Vinification Hand harvested. Fermentation for 38 days in temperature-controlled wooden vats, followed by ageing in barrels. 80% aged in new barrels and 20% in barrels that have previously contained wine.
