The estate and the wine |

Brilliant in this 2024 vintage, Château Pavie-Macquin is without a doubt one of our favorite wines—across all appellations. Despite challenging conditions, the expertise and precision of this Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) of Saint-Émilion made all the difference. Fine-tuned adjustments and meticulous attention have shaped a flawless 2024, built on 84% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Rated 95/100 by Olivier Poussier, World’s Best Sommelier—his highest score of the year—the wine reveals itself with remarkable clarity. Beautifully ripe fruit reflects the imprint of the limestone soils, while the texture is refined, taut, and carries impressive length and tactile precision. Everything is polished and effortless, right through to the vibrant salinity on the finish.
For several years now, Pavie-Macquin has been brushing the summit of Saint-Émilion. But in the ongoing race for perfection among Bordeaux’s greatest wines, it may well be the estate showing the most remarkable upward momentum.
One of the most desirable labels in all of Bordeaux. |
