The estate and the wine |
|
|
A venerable Bandol institution, now rated 3 stars in the RVF Guide - only 4 estates have reached this level - Château Pradeaux has been owned by the Portalis family since 1752.
For three centuries, it has been producing powerful, well-structured red wines which, over time, take on the allure of great Bordeaux. The density, breed and depth of recent vintages provide incomparable emotion.
Far from any flattering drift, Pradeaux remains as it has always been: a very classic red, seeking to blossom over time, reinforcing its power and uniqueness through whole grapes vinification (extremely rare in Bandol) and very long ageing (up to 48 months) in old foudres aged from 40 to 80 years! |

The 2019 red Bandol Le Lys is a superb wine! The Mourvèdre imprint is admirably positioned, between fragrances of laurel, thyme and dried herbs in a fully assumed Mediterranean profile, without overdoing it. The wine delivers perfectly today, fresh, sapid, full-bodied and fleshy, while retaining a fine ageing capacity of 5-6 years. Well done! Rated 92/100 by the Committee. |
