A true mentor, he also shines on his own vineyards. Close to his residence, in the village of Valtuille de Abajo in the Bierzo province, Raul Perez crafts a collection of wines sourced from very old vines.
Wine Awarded a 97/100 by R. Parker, the 2021 Red Bierzo La Vitoriana hails from northern-facing terroirs, granting it exceptional freshness. The ever-vibrant mencia grape hints at dark fruits, spices, and violet to the nose, complemented by a smoky wood essence. On the palate, its harmony is evident, boasting elegant tannins and a smoky reminiscence from its aging process. In essence, this wine seamlessly marries robustness with masterful balance and a refreshing, lingering finish. Perfect to enjoy alongside grilled duck breast, a prime ribeye, or a well-aged butcher's cut. An astonishing find at such a price!
Vinification Harvested by hand. Maceration for 60 to 90 days in vats, then finishing in barrels. Aged 12 months in oak barrels.
