The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine A winemaker of rare distinction and a Parker favourite, René Rostaing has become a quiet icon in Ampuis, crafting benchmark wines from the finest terroirs of the appellation. His low profile is matched only by his extraordinary talent, with wines that embody absolute classicism and move wine lovers across the globe.

With production kept intentionally low, demand consistently outpaces supply—bottles are released strictly through allocation and tend to sell out almost instantly.

Whether from the legendary appellations of Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, or his beautifully executed IGP cuvées, Rostaing’s wines are a masterclass in consistency, finesse, and emotional impact.
Wine Marked by the fresh, expressive fruit typical of the vintage, the 2021 IGP Collines Rhodaniennes Les Lézardes Red is a pure, pleasure-driven Syrah from parcels bordering Côte-Rôtie. Bursting with red and black fruit, gentle spice, and a supple, juicy texture, it’s framed by fine, delicate tannins. An immediately enjoyable wine, yet one that can also develop gracefully over the next few years.
Vinification Hand harvested from young vines on the estate, approximately 60% of the grapes are partially destemmed, fermented in stainless steel vats for 4 to 5 weeks with regular pumping over, aged for just under 11 months in demi-muids, 5 to 10% of which are new.
