The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine " In the golden triangle " At the precise crossroads of Ausone, Pavie and La Gaffelière... Château St Georges Côte Pavie is a 5-hectare, family-run micro-estate producing wines of the highest quality under the guidance of the inimitable Stéphane Derenoncourt! This little vineyard produces intense, gentle wines that reflect the clay-limestone terroir in which they were born.
Wine Very open, the 2017 Red Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Côte Madeleine takes full advantage of the freshness of the vintage, opening with a precise, straightforward nose, offering perfectly ripe, salient Merlot with notes of blackcurrant and precious wood, with a hint of balsamic. The palate is racy, with a well-balanced, half-potent juice, ready to drink today but capable of aging for another 5 to 6 years. Rated 92/100 by the Committee.
Vinification Hand harvested from September 25 to October 6, 2017. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, maceration for 3 to 4 weeks. Aged for 12 to 14 months in barrels in an air-conditioned cellar (50% new wood & 50% one wine).
