The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine Driven by an unwavering quest for excellence and authenticity, the Sottimano family crafts wines of breathtaking finesse in Piedmont, Italy, with a remarkable capacity for aging. These providential reds, sincere and full-bodied, showcase the distinctiveness of Italy's great terroirs, especially those of Barbaresco and Barbera.

Their wines are generous and passionate, reflecting an enthusiasm for Burgundy's delicate craftsmanship. The Sottimanos enhance the local varietals' nobility, expressing the natural elegance of this cutting-edge terroir. Parcel vinification, organic farming, and flawless aging are all hallmarks of the estate's success.

Today, it stands as one of the finest estates in Barbaresco, with wines that powerfully echo the legendary finesse of the great Burgundies.
Wine From a limestone terroir and the estate's oldest vines, the 2019 Red Curra Barbaresco is an immense wine with exceptional ageing potential. It's certainly a wine of great terroir, which never produces the most colorful wines, but the most strikingly fine; indeed, it's a very pure nebbiolo, with intensity nonetheless and very present black fruit notes. The minerality asserts itself forcefully, mingled with a touch of spice and the blond note of ageing, destined to melt away. Don't be in a hurry: the balance, elegance and purity are already there, but they'll last for many years to come. Few bottles are produced. Rated 96/100 by Parker.
Vinification Hand-harvested, indigenous yeasts. Fermentation and maceration on skins for 45 days. Malolactic fermentation in barrels. Aged 24 months in French oak barrels.
Unfined, unfiltered wine.
