The estate and the wine |
An idealistic and sensitive winemaker, Jean-Louis Trapet works as a virtuoso on his family estate, which he has raised to the top of the current Burgundy scene. Attentive and demanding, a convinced follower of biodynamics, he expresses in his wines the most infinite nuances of his terroir, finding tannins of a rare elegance and a level of complexity and accomplishment rarely reached.
Few estates can claim such grace, especially since it extends across the entire range. From the smallest wine to the grand cru of Chambertin, everything here transpires intelligence and the most exact formulation. |

Of great breed, powerful, the 2019 Red Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur is built for aging. Its filtering soils close to Mazis-Chambertin give it this solidity incarnate, an aromatic depth and a fleshy matter quite velvety, coupled with a delicate and saline finish. Still reserved but already very greedy, this solid wine needs time. Rated 95/100 RVF, 92-94/100 Parker, 95/100 Bettane+Desseauve. |
