The estate and the wine
The estate and the wine The history of Vienne wines started in 1996, when Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard and François Villard decided to replant some vines in the ancient Seyssuel vineyard area, on the left bank of the Rhône, upstream from Vienne. Under the Sotanum brand, the wine, sold as "vin de pays des collines rhodaniennes" was an immediate hit. The venture took a radical turn from 2002, with the arrival of Pierre Jean Villa. The Vienne wines now come from 18 hectares of vineyard property.
Wine Condrieu La Chambée 2009 confirms that, in a wine growing context that is now worldwide, there is no other terroir that expresses the Viognier so well. This wine literally explodes with aromas. It possesses the opulence of its vintage and the fine expression of its grape variety, the delicious notes of the apricot and the delicacy of the wild peach. HUGE!
Vinification The harvests are not de-stalked or crushed, the press is filled via gravity. Fermentations and vinification at low temperature in wooden vats using natural yeasts. Aging on the lees, in French oak vats for 9 months.
