The estate and the wine
Wine The 2016 red wine from Château Villars Fronsac is the result of a very ripe harvest and a radiant Merlot, delivering an intensely fruity wine with notes of blackcurrant, black fruit, and licorice, with a hint of balsamic and light oak. A fine archetype of balanced Bordeaux with good tannic density, it combines precision, complexity, structure, and finesse. A Selection Committee Favorite rated 93/100.
Vinification Hand harvested from October 4 to 18. Traditional vinification, 32-day maceration with regular pumping-over. Aged 100% in barrels for 12 months, including 35% new oak. Bottled at the estate on April 23, 2018.
