Wine:

The Domaine de Villaine's Bouzeron White 2009 is a rarity. The estate's winemaker, Aubert de Villaine, is also joint-manager of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The same precepts are therefore applied in both places. His Aligoté has a force of expression unmatched in all of Burgundy. The 2009 vintage of this wine is upstanding, pure and particularly delicious. Magnificent!

Vinification:

Organically farmed grapes, tightly managed yields (on average 20% below the appellation's specifications), traditional vinification.

Color:

Golden colour.

Nose:

Aromas of peach and pear, undergrowth and a touch of acacia honey.

Palate:

Fairly delicate on the palate yet meaty and crisp. A good reflection of the maturity of the fruit and the marked character of the aligoté doré. Lovely finish.

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Oysters, tuna tartare, seafood, marrow bone, as an aperitif, or with fish and many different cheeses: Cantal, Beaufort, Parmesan, Roquefort.

Enjoy up to and including 2015

Joint-manager of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Aubert de Villaine applies the same work ethics to the vineyards in Bouzeron and produces sumptuous wines on this terroir. The Domaine Aubert and Pamela de Villaine is in Bouzeron, the first village of the Côte Chalonnaise south of Beaune, located between the villages of Santenay, Rully and Mercurey. From the Middle Ages, the monks of Cluny have cloaked with vines this sunny little valley blessed with an exceptional terroir. Wines with strong personality and amazing quality, from the Aligoté variety in particular, have been produced here for centuries.
