Wine:

The 2009 Marsanne/Roussanne blend is a marvel. The vintage certainly helped but the result is nevertheless quite a feat. The magnificent notes of pear mingle in a slightly grainy, thick texture. This wine is a delight.

Vinification:

Hand harvsted, picked at maturity, gentle, controlled pressing.

Color:

Crystalline, light yellow colour.

Nose:

Magnificent on the nose, aromas of fresh grapes and lemon.

Palate:

Fresh and uplifting on entry, then fuller, grainy, and very smooth on the palate, finishing with an attractive refreshing touch of white fruit (pear).

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

As an aperitif, with white meat dishes.

Jean Marie Guffens is a very gifted man and well known for having raised the quality level of his Maconnais wines to that of the finest Cote de Beaune grands crus. He is a highly sensitive individual and his wines resonate in time with his deep seated convictions about the importance of aesthetic viticulture. His latest challenge is Château des Tourettes in the Lubéron. He again blows away conventional standards and takes his wines to a prodigious level through his enormous talent and strength of conviction.
