Wine:

V.P. for "vieillissement prolongé", or "extended aging". The Blanc Grand Cru V.P. Extra-Brut Champagne explores long aging processes with an uncommon skill. Francis Egly is particularly fond of champagnes that are waiting to express their full power and elegance with time. Such is the case with this one, aged for more than seven years in the cellar after vinification in barrels, as is customary in the house. The result is a very great champagne, both generous and structured thanks to its base of pinot noir, supported in its strength by the percussion of the limestone terroir and a third of chardonnay. The whole delivers a remarkable patina, long and refined flavors. Here is a Champagne which is drunk with delight!

Vinification:

Hand harvested, vinified with indigenous yeasts and in oak barrels, long aging on lees of 84 months before disgorgement. Base 2014, 2013 and 2012.

Low dosage: 3 g/l.

Color:

Golden with bronze highlights.

Nose:

Intense, ripe, notes of candied fruits, brioche and honey, palette of aromas of a great wine

Palate:

An abundant and digestible bubble, a beautiful amplitude in palate, balance and a great personality... This wine delivers a remarkable patina, long and tasty. A Champagne to be drunk with delight!

Temperature:

Serve between 10 and 12°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Champagne of meal, rather fish, shellfish, white meats, otherwise aperitif with cheeses, salmon in gravlax,...

Cellar aging:

From now on

Egly-Ouriet, a paragon of Champagne excellence and awarded 3 stars by the RVF Guide, has carved out a name commensurate with its high standards. Spanning nearly 17 hectares, with ten classified as Grand Cru (in Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay), Francis Egly continues his remarkable work, which very few houses can match, now with the support of his son Charles and daughter Clémence. The balance and finesse of his wines are unmatched and represent an exceptional classicism.

From the very first cuvée in the range, one is captivated by this honest style, which balances strength and restraint while skillfully handling pinot noir. These are robust champagnes, underscored by very old vines, wines vinified in barrels and matured extensively in the cellar to refine and blossom at just the right moment. Purity, nobility, and definition are impressively regular features.
