The 2025 Snake Edition of Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky is the third release in the Zodiac Label series. Its label is crafted from Kiryu Ori, a high-quality woven textile traditionally used for kimonos and luxury accessories. Made from a meticulous selection of whiskies and pure mineral water filtered through the underground rocks of Mount Daisen, this special edition offers rich aromas of dried fruit and roasted nuts. The complex nose bursts with apricot, raisin and fig, followed by delicate hints of toasted nuts. On the palate, it is smooth and beautifully balanced, unfolding layers of sweet malt, caramel and dried fruit, leading into a warm, slightly smoky finish of dried fruit with striking elegance.

Elaboration:

Crafted from carefully selected whiskies and fresh mineral water from Mount Daisen.

Kurayoshi is one of Japan’s hidden gems. Located in the Tottori prefecture in southern Honshu, this micro-distillery has been cultivating the delicate art of blending and refining for over a century. Sake, shochu and brandy have long been crafted here in the purest Japanese tradition, thanks in part to the pristine waters flowing from Mount Daisen.

In recent years, Shuzo Matsui has also created a small range of whiskies under the Matsui name. These unique whiskies, aged in Japanese oak casks, are sought after as much for their rarity as for their remarkable complexity.

The line includes classics like Kurayoshi Pure Malt, as well as limited editions such as the Zodiac Label series, inspired by the traditional Chinese calendar.
