Wine:

Bottled in the spring of 2017, the 2012 Margaux Château Bel Air Marquis d'Aligre is readily approachable, buoyed by aromas of pure fruit and a classic vintage with a lot of balance. Unlike its neighbors, this wine adopts a caressing, lacy style, both delicate and racy, without being marked by oak since there is none! It will last another twenty years without any problem, as proven by the previous vintages, which are always valiant and instructive.

Hand harvested, vinified and aged for 36 months in concrete vats with a short period in barrels of 5 to 6 months without new wood, without filtration.

Bright ruby red.

Nose:

Beautiful aromas of red and black fruits accented with notes of graphite.

Palate:

Delicate and tasty, this wine offers precise and silky tannins that blend perfectly with this elegant structure.

Decant at least 2 hours before serving between 16 and 18°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Risotto with black truffle, duck breast and grilled potatoes, lamprey and its wine sauce.

From now until 2040

A true free thinker, who sees beyond the Bordeaux system and its many constraints, Jean-Pierre Boyer is a master in creating rare and exquisite Margaux.

A wine unlike all others that is acclaimed by critics and amateurs from around the world. With more than 70 harvests to his credit, the man is not simply a winemaker. He is a true artist who knows how to prioritize the vineyard, searching for and selecting only the ripest and most perfect grapes for his wines. A true eccentric, he prefers to age his wines in vats until May, then in wooden barrels for a short time before returning them to age in vats for two more years, just like it used to be done in the 19th century. A long and intricate aging process that confers a unique finesse and smoothness to these wines created by a true maestro!

Bordering the prestigious Château Margaux terroir, the 13 hectares of Château Bel Air Marquis d'Aligre offer an intimate and passionate interpretation of Bordeaux. Only one wine is produced on the estate, and only in good years: this treasure is therefore as rare as it is touching. A choice that goes against current trends, and which delivers year after year a breathtaking result!
