Vinified and aged in large wooden tuns, this red retains a tremendous sapidity and freshness, with a natural acidity and a moderate level of alcohol that commands respect in these latitudes. Deep and complex, with hints of graphite and black fruits, this red wine also boasts a lot of finesse, a velvety texture and a perfect chalky finish. Never seen in Spain! Rated 98/100 by Parker.

Juan Antonio Ponce is the new muse of the Spanish wine industry. He is pushing back the boundaries of Rioja with his astonishingly fresh and pure wines. Spotted by Robert Parker since his first vintages, the winemaker is active in the Manchuela region, near Valencia, and brilliantly demonstrates that it is possible to produce wines of very high quality in this area.

In organic viticulture, rehabilitating the native grape varieties and relying on old vines, he magnifies the Manchuela appellation. Often highly "parkerized", it is still under the radar, but its value is constantly rising!
