Wine:

Produced from very ripe grapes, the 2020 Red Bandol releases a full-bodied aromatic bouquet of dark fruit and oriental spices, framed by present, luxurious oak. The structure follows the same careful Bordeaux-style register, with consistent wood that should melt away, revealing touches of spice, chocolate, thyme and maquis herbs. A wine with great aging potential.

Vinification:

Hand-harvested in small crates, double sorted, totally de-stemmed, berry pressing and long maceration with regular manual punching down for optimum phenolic extraction, malolactic fermentation carried out during ageing in wood, aged for 18 months in 600l oak demi-muids and foudres.

Organic wine, certified by Ecocert.

Color:

Dark red, almost black.

Nose:

Black fruit flavors mingle with spicy notes of maquis herbs and thyme.

Palate:

This wine offers beautifully ripe grapes underlined by a woody palate.

Temperature:

Serve between 14 and 16°C.

Food and wine pairing:

Mediterranean cuisine based on tomato, rabbit stew, roast lamb shoulder, prime rib.

Cellar aging:

From now until 2035

A flagship of the Provence region, with 1 star in the RVF Guide, the Domaine de la Bégude has its own style, like no other. Recently taken over by Christian Roulleau, owner of Château Dauzac in Margaux, this vineyard is constantly raising its standards to produce great terroir wines.

With the highest vines in the Bandol appellation, at an altitude of 410 meters, and organic farming, the estate profiles wines with a unique character that not even the big names in the sector come close to.
